Base44 SEO vs Scaup: When Built-In Tools Aren't Enough

Base44 recently shipped a Growth section with built-in SEO and GEO scoring. You can scan your app, see what's missing, and click "Fix with AI" to fill in meta tags and descriptions. It also generates an llms.txt file so AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini can understand what your app does.

That's a real step forward for Base44 users. Most AI-built sites launch with zero search optimization, and having the basics covered out of the box is better than nothing. But there's a gap between checking SEO boxes and actually growing your traffic. That gap is where Scaup lives.

What Base44's Growth Section Actually Does

Base44's SEO and GEO tool runs a scan against a list of criteria and gives you a scored checklist. Results fall into Urgent, Recommended, and Done categories. For some issues, like missing breadcrumbs, brand info, or page descriptions, it can auto-fix them. For others, it sends a prompt to the chat composer and you work through it manually.

The GEO side automatically generates an llms.txt file that tells AI crawlers what your app is about. You can also set custom titles and descriptions per page from the SEO dashboard.

This covers the technical hygiene layer of SEO: making sure Google and AI platforms can read and understand your pages. It's the same category of tooling you get in Wix, Squarespace, or any modern website builder. Necessary, but not sufficient.

What It Doesn't Do

  • No competitor analysis. Base44 doesn't look at who's ranking for the keywords you care about, what they're doing differently, or where your gaps are.
  • No growth strategy. You get a checklist of technical fixes, not a plan for what to improve and in what order to move the needle.
  • No ongoing execution. Once you've clicked "Fix with AI" on every item, you're done. There's no weekly cycle that keeps improving your site based on fresh data.
  • No keyword tracking. You can't see which search terms are bringing people to your site, which ones are close to page 1, or how they're trending over time.
  • Platform-locked. It only works for apps built on Base44. If you ever move platforms, you start from zero.

How Scaup Works Differently

Scaup doesn't give you a checklist. It runs a loop.

When you connect your site, Scaup analyzes your competitors, identifies what's working in your space, and builds a prioritized growth plan. Every day it picks the highest-impact item from that plan and executes it, using fresh Google Search Console data to decide what matters most. You get a weekly email showing what changed and how your keywords are moving.

That loop is the difference. Base44's Growth section is a one-time scan. Scaup is an ongoing process that adapts as your site and your market change.

Scaup also handles the same technical basics that Base44 covers: page titles, meta descriptions, image descriptions, llms.txt. But those are starting points, not the whole product.

Base44's Growth Section Is a Starting Point

If you built your site on Base44, you should absolutely use their Growth section. Run the scan, fix what it flags, let it generate your llms.txt. That's free and it gets the foundations right.

But if you're serious about people actually finding your site on Google and in AI answers, a checklist won't get you there. Search visibility is a compounding game. The sites that win are the ones making small, consistent improvements every week based on real data, not the ones that filled in their meta descriptions once and moved on.

That's the job Scaup does. You can use both: Base44 for building your app, Scaup for growing your traffic. They work on different layers of the same problem.

Try It

Scaup connects to WordPress, Wix, Webflow, and coded sites hosted on GitHub, so if you export or host your Base44 project as a repo it can work on that too. Connecting a site with no card gives you a competitor analysis and a full growth plan. A paid plan is what starts the daily execution of that plan. Get started free.
